In a discussion about the existence of the Judeo-Christian/Muslim god, an argument was presented that I have not heard before:
God existence is proven by the use of clothing, by Man, to prevent the humility that comes with nudity. This sounds pretty rediculous to me, but the person seemed pretty convinced about this.
And no one has been able to explain why humans wear clothing from the perspective of embarrassment to expose ones genitalia in public and no other creature on earth experiences this same phenomenon.
I have heard from some about tribes that are naked all the time, but what they don't indicate about the tribes is that they are embarrassed when the foreskin allows the penis to be exposed negating the argument. Or that because of the climate we live in requires us to wear clothing and I have also had comments that basically skirt the issue with comment like "so we wear cloths so god exists?" but no one wants to actually answer the question.
So I ask again why are humans the only creature on this planet that feels the need to wear clothing? Why on a perfectly nice day can we not walk around naked? Why do we have laws that do not allow this? Give me one legitimate reason for human wearing clothing and not one other species does and then I will listen.
The discussion started derailing the thread we were on, so I thought I'd open a discussion on the subject.
